Diabetes is a chronic condition that affects your blood sugar levels. With diabetes, your body does not use insulin properly, or it does not make enough insulin. There are 2 types of diabetes- type 1 and type 2. Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes. In type 2 diabetes, the body does not use insulin as well as it should. In type 1 diabetes, the body does not produce enough insulin.

The Diabetes Maintenance Panel consists of 5 tests that provide valuable information to help you monitor your diabetes treatment. This panel includes the following tests:
HbA1c: This indicator provides better indicator of long term glycemic/ blood sugar control and medication control.
Urinalysis test: This test helps understand if your kidneys are filtering waste fluid in your blood through your urine. Complications of diabetes can also be determined through your urine.
Lipid panel (Cholesterol/ HDL/ LDL/ Triglycerides): These are important tests for diabetics as they are vulnerable to manifest heart disease.
CBC: This is an important test to monitor your overall health especially in vulnerable patients like diabetics.
Fast glucose helps to monitor your daily levels of glucose and medication control.

Who Should Take This Test?
– Individuals over 40 with a risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
– Overweight or obese individuals; those with an imbalanced diet.
– Individuals with high blood pressure are at a higher risk of diabetes.
– Individuals with suspicious symptoms related to diabetes such as increased appetite, frequent thirst, frequent urination, slow-healing wounds, long-lasting ulcers, etc.
Preparing for Your Visit
